The following is a transcription of an article which appeared in The Morning Freeman of Saint John on August 27, 1861 describing the condition of the Glassville settlers who arrived on the “Irvine”, as well as the circumstances facing them on Partridge Island in Saint John Harbour where they were required to quarantine before being allowed to proceed to their new properties in Carleton County. The original article can be viewed HERE on the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick website.
