The Post Office was created as a federal department of the Government of Canada in 1867. Although postal operations in Canada date back to 1755, postal services were under the control of British authorities until 1851.
Post offices were established in settlements at various times depending upon a number of criteria, and similarly were consolidated or closed altogether from time to time. The following describes the establishment and closure of Post offices in Glassville and nearby communities.
