Grafton is located on E side of the St. John River, across from Woodstock: Northampton Parish, Carleton County: named for Augustus Fitzroy, 7th Duke of Grafton (1821-1918) and a general in the Crimean War: PO 1875-1916: in 1898 Grafton was a settlement with 1 post office, 1 store, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 200.
