    Obituary

    The death of Claude VanDyke Ebbett, 95, of Sackville, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Monday, April 18, 2016. Born in Middle Simonds, Carleton County, NB, Claude was a son of the late Earl David and Gladys (Underhill) Ebbett.

    He worked for Canada Agriculture Food Production and Inspection Branch, retiring March 31, 1985 with 35 years service as Sub-District Supervisor in Florenceville, NB. Claude was a veteran of the Second World War having served overseas as a wireless operator with the first Canadian Survey Regt. R.C.A. in United Kingdom; Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe. He was discharged in Fredericton, NB in 1946. He was a long time and very active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving as president of #6 Branch Moncton in 1974 and President of #37 Branch in 1981 and 1982, Florenceville, NB. He was a level 4 official with the N.B. track and field association. He worked for many years as an official with the track and field program sponsored by the R.C.L. Notedly, he was one of the four veterans from NB chosen to officiate at the 1985 Canada Summer Games.

    An avid outdoors man, his passion for fishing and hunting, especially in the Tobique area of New Brunswick, was passed on to his children.

    He will be sadly missed by his wife of 70 years, Elisabeth; their three sons Wendell, Sunset House, AB, Donald (Brenda), High Prairie, AB, and E. David (Rhea "Carolyn"), Prince George, BC; daughters; M. Gwendolyn (Bradd Burningham) Ebbett, Windsor, ON, Shelley E. (Garry Wood) Ebbett, Charlottetown, PE; grandchildren, Kerry, Kyle, and Maaike; two great grandchildren, Lucy and Leni; two sisters, Letha (Late Charles) Gaunce, of Upper Kent, Alice (Late Fred) Cogswell, Perth Andover, NB; a brother-in-law, Arthur Blue, Fredericton and a sister-in-law, Anne Ebbett, Glassville, Carleton Co., NB, and several nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson Patrick Jason and his brothers, Wendell, Harry and Hazen (Late Julia); sisters Audrey Blue and Nina (Late Ronald) Ball, and a brother-in-law, Jack Sadler

    Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300). Honoring Claude's wishes, there is to be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at The Drew Nursing Home, Main Lounge, on July 6, 2016 at 1 pm. Donations in memory of Claude may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Sackville.

    It is with great sadness that the family of Harry Edwin Ebbett, husband of Annetta "Ann" (Nee Dykeman) Ebbett announces his passing which occurred on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Hotel Dieu Hosptial, Perth Andover. Born on May 4, 1919 at Middle Simonds, NB he was the oldest son of the late Earle and Gladys (Underhill) Ebbett. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
    Harry lived in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1935. He worked with his father in farming and lumbering until enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940. He spent 5 years on Convoy duty on the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Demobilized in October 1945. Then he purchased a farm at Upper Kent and spent over 40 years farming.
    Harry has been a member of the Board of Directors of Carleton Co-op Ltd since 1949, a member of Carleton County Council for 4 years, Past President of the Florenceville Royal Canadian Legion Branch #37 and a founding member of the National Farmers Union.
    Harry married Annetta Dykeman of Juniper NB in 1953. They have 3 children, Emerson Ebbett of Calgary AB, Stephanie Ebbett- McCarthy (David) of Upper Kent, NB and Rita Ebbett- McIntosh (Dale) of Glassville, NB; 3 grandchildren, Laura McIntosh of Glassville, NB, Martha McIntosh of Vancover, BC and Cedric McIntosh of Fredericton, NB; 1 brother, Claude Ebbett (Els) of Sackville, NB; 2 sisters, Letha Gaunce of Upper Kent, NB and Alice Cogswell (Fred) of Perth Andover, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was predeceased by his parents, 4 siblings, Wendall and Hazen Ebbett, Audrey Blue and Nina Ball.
    Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 6-8 pm and Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2-3 pm with a funeral service following at 3 pm. Rev. Mary Taylor will officiate. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 37 will hold a tribute service at 5:30 Saturday evening. Interment will be in the Wharton Cemetery at a later date.     BLUE, AUDREY JEAN The passing of Audrey Jean (Ebbett) Blue of Fredericton, NB, wife of Arthur Blue, occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on December 04, 1922 in Middle Simonds, NB, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Gladys (Underhill) Ebbett. Audrey retired as a school teacher after 33 years. In addition to her husband, Arthur, Audrey is survived by her daughter, Ann Gates (Paul) of New Minas, NS; grandson, Jarred Gates of Halifax, NS; sisters, Letha Gaunce of Upper Kent, NB, Nina Ball (Ronald) of Upper Kent, NB and Alice Cogswell (Fred) of Perth-Andover, NB; brothers, Harry Ebbett (Anne) of Upper Kent, NB and Claude Ebbett (Els) of Sackville, NB and several nieces and nephews.     Nina is survived by her 2 children, Edward Ball (Evelyn) and Ruth Theriault (C.P.); 2 grandchildren, Seth and Sydney Ball; 4 siblings, Harry Ebbett (Anne), Claude Ebbett (Elsie), Letha Gaunce and Alice Cogswell (Fred); 1 brother in law, Arthur Blue and many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly.
