    Obituary:

Verna was born to Scott Earl and Lydia Mae (Nevers) Hallett of Upper Brighton on February the 19th 1918. She married Russell Walter Taylor on July the 13th 1937 at Victoria Corner. They were wed by Rev. O. Shaw. She had just graduated from Carleton County Vocational School and Russ was a meat cutter for Meltzs' in Woodstock. He loved to skate and at times would skate up the river from Woodstock to Hartland when he was still courting her. She raised 4 children and loved to cook. Anything she made was delicious. She grew a garden every year and picked berries behind her house all summer long. She loved raking up the leaves in the fall and having fires in the brick fireplace Russell made her in the backyard. Verna enjoyed listening to the gospel radio staions and attended the Woodstock United Baptist Church on Main street every Sunday. She enjoyed the company of her family and wouldn't let anyone leave without feeding them first.
She died from complications due to alzheimer's disease on August 18th, 2002. She was 84. Six of her grandsons were the pallbearers. She was buried beside Russell in the Houlton Road Cemetery.
