    OBITUARY:

    FORT FAIRFIELD - Helen A. Dougherty, 93, wife of the late Cecil Dougherty, passed away Friday morning, April 1, 2011, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Upper Kent, New Brunswick, the daughter of Thomas and Maude (Smith) Canam.

    She attended Upper Kent schools and after moving to Fort Fairfield, married Cecil Dougherty, Jan. 6, 1934. Helen had been a member of Fort Fairfield Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed knitting and painting, and had been employed by Potato Service, Presque Isle, for several years.

    In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Cecil, Dec. 27, 1976; two daughters, Linda Dougherty and Judy McKinnon; three brothers, Wavel, Wilbur and Ervin Canam; and one sister, Mabel Taylor. She is survived by four sons, Glenwood, Milton and Clayton Dougherty, all of Fort Fairfield, and Graydon Dougherty and his wife, Shirley, of Castle Hill; three daughters, Gail Mazerolle of Fort Fairfield, Betty Sharp and her husband, Jes, of Vacaville, Calif., and Sharon Armour and her husband, Alden, of Littleton; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A graveside service will be conducted later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Dougherty to Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

    CLAYTON T. “TOM” DOUGHERTY FORT FAIRFIELD Fort Fairfield - Clayton T. “Tom” Dougherty, 72, passed away Monday June 12, 2017, at his residence in Fort Fairfield, following an extended illness. He was born October 8, 1944 in Caribou, the son of Cecil and Helen A. (Canam) Dougherty. Clayton was a life long resident of Fort Fairfield where he attended local schools. He was employed in the farming industry for many years with Reed Farms and served seven years with the Maine National Guard. In addition to his parents, Clayton was predeceased by two brothers, Glenwood and Milton Dougherty; two sisters, Linda May Dougherty and Judy McKinnon. He is survived by his life long companion, Hattie M. Turcotte of Fort Fairfield and her son, David Turcotte and his son, Samuel Turcotte, both of Easton; two sons, Michael and Kevin Dougherty, both of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Graydon and Shirley Dougherty of Castle Hill; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gail Mazerolle of Fort Fairfield, Betty and Jes Sharpe of Grass-Valley, CA, Sharon and Alden Armor of Littleton; five grandchildren, Veronica Dougherty, Alyssa Dougherty, Jacob Perreault, Zackary Dougherty, Kassidy Dougherty; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be conducted at a later date by Rev. George McLaughlin and Rev. Steven Graham co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Dougherty to the American Diabetes Association, National Processing Center, P.O. Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.

    PVT. E-2 James Mazerolle Fort Shafter, Hawaii and Fort Fairfield 20. Died 9-18-1986 at Trippler Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii after a brief illness. He was born 5-24-1966 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Peter and Gail (Dougherty) Mazerolle. He was a resident of Fort Fairfield prior to his military enlistment in the US Army. He graduated from FFHS, Class of 1985 and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Fort Fairfield. He is survived by his mother of Fort Fairfield, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Dougherty of Fort Fairfield, 1 brother, Anthony of Mars Hill, 2 sisters, Mrs. Curtis (Nancy) Walker of Aroostook Junction, NB., Canada and Rachael Mazzerole of Fort Fairfield, 2 nephews, Zackery Walker of Aroostook Junction, NB., Canada and Anthony Mazerolle Jr. of Mars Hill, several aunts and uncles. Burial Riverside cemetery.
