    WRITTEN IN MEMORY OF
    WILLIAM MCKAY MARTIN
    The death of William McKay
    Martin occurred at his home in Bath on July 7, 1930.
    He was born in Glassville, N.B. June 26, 1871, the son of Edward Douglas and Martha (McKay) Martin, who immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland, being among the first settlers of Glassville.
    He lived with and helped farm the two farms his parents acquired along
    with his brother Douglas. On May 7, 1900, he married Margaret Riley also
    from Glasgow, Scotland. He farmed in Glassville until ill health forced his retirement. He then moved to Bath.
    The funeral was held from the home of his son William Martin, Bath, conducted by the Rev. A.D. Giberson. Favourite hymns were beautifully rendered by Mrs. A.D. Giberson and daughter Ella.
    He leaves to mourn his loving wife, four sons, William G., Aubrey M., Edward D. and Colin G., three daughters Hilda A., Edith M. and
    Villa M. all of Bath. Mr. Martin was highly thought of and was active in community affairs.

    JOHN 'HARDY' TREADWELL

    BANGOR - John "Hardy" Treadwell, 45, died Feb. 25, 2005, at a Boston hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1960, in Bangor, the son of Howard and Laurel Treadwell. John graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1978. He loved playing cards, going out to eat, and going to the movies. John started working at Paul's Restaurant when he was a teenager, and worked there for 28 years until their closing. He loved his family, and made a life-time of waiting on and caring for people. Surviving are his daughter, Cortney Lee Villa Treadwell; his fianc?e, Jane Reynolds; his mother, Laurel Treadwell; special grandmother to whom he was very close, Villa Hallett; brothers, Rick and his wife, Ann, George and his wife, Kelly Hardgrove, and Howard Jr. and his wife, Venise; sisters, Joanne and her husband, Brian Filtz, Patti and her husband, Danny McPheters, Lori and her husband, Peter Hamlin, and Ann Lucas; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and John's many customers/friends from Paul's Restaurant.     At Ross Manor, Bangor, Maine on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 Villa Marion Hallett “Annie” of Bangor passed away at the age of 94. Born in Glassville on January 10, 1915 she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Reilly) Martin and wife of the late John Hallett.

    She is survived by her children, Laurel Treadwell, Joan White (Jimmy) and Roger (Janet) Hallett, daughter in law Elaine Hallett, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, sister in law, Frances (Martin) Seacord and numerous nieces and nephews that loved her very much.

    She was predeceased by her parents, husband, John, 1 son Larry, 4 brothers, William Jr., Aubrey, Edward and Colin, 2 sisters, Hilda and Edith.

    OLD TOWN - Villa M. Hallett, 94, wife of the late John L. Hallett, passed away peacefully July 8, 2009. She was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Glassville, New Brunswick, the youngest of seven children born to William and Margaret (Reilly) Martin. Villa enjoyed many careers and hobbies during her 94 years. She was a professional photographer and drove taxi during her early years in Mars Hill. She and her husband, John, later spent one winter in Connecticut, where she was a factory worker. They then returned to the Bangor-Brewer area, where she was a waitress for Miller's Restaurant. She enjoyed many hobbies, including her flower gardens, sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed taking pictures and organizing her many photo albums, and making country and western tapes and sharing them during many get-togethers with her family and friends. She is survived by three stepchildren, Laurel Treadwell of Old Town, Joan White and husband, James, of Eddington and Roger Hallett and wife, Janice, of South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Hallett of Glenburn; 13 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Beverly Hallett; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wilson and Frances Secord; a very special niece, Edna and her husband, Irvin, of London, Ontario; nephew, Roy Martin and his wife, Marg, of St. John, New Brunswick; many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, six siblings; stepson, Larry W. Hallett; one very special grandson, John Treadwell; and one great-grandson, George "G3" Hardgrove.     Leroy Martin of Quispamsis, husband of Margaret (Price) Martin, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2014 at Embassy Hall, surrounded by his family. Born in Bath, Carleton Co., he was a son of the late William and Mattie Martin. Leroy worked for NBTel for 41 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. His passions included golf, curling, hunting, gardening, and music. Leroy also taught clogging and line dancing at the Continental Country Club.

    He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret, sons Bryan (Nancy) of Dallas, TX, Greg (Jackie) of Saint John, and Brent (Beatrice) of Riyadh, KSA, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Leroy was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda, grandson, Jamie Allen, as well as brother, Harold, in infancy.     It is with great sadness that the family of Dianne Patricia Quinn announce her sudden passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 24th, 2021.

    Born in Bath, NB on February 4th, 1942, to the late Aubrey and Ruby Martin, Dianne’s birth was an unexpected surprise as she followed “older” brother Donald by only a few minutes. The twins (better known as Poppy and Posie) had a combined weight of less than 5lbs and were kept in a shoebox on the oven door for warmth. The legend is they weren’t bathed their whole first year for fear of developing a chill. Although tiny in stature compared to her much taller twin brother Poppy, she always felt and acted as if she was 6′ tall, maintaining her feisty independent nature until the end.

    A proud, devoted and dedicated mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Posie spent her life caring for her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for chocolate, Tim Horton’s coffee, Mahjong, golf and her most favorite sport, curling. For her birthday this year, her children surprised her with a video message from her idol Brad Gushue, and it was quite a hit.

    Posie leaves to mourn her children Karyn (Curtis), Kristyn (Randy) and Peter (Connie) all of Saint John; her grandchildren Adam, William, Matthew, Jordan, Allyson, Kimberly; great-granddaughter Aubrey; her beloved twin brother Donald “Poppy” Martin; sister-in-law Marion Wargo; brothers-in-law George Kelly, Buck Quinn (Ida), Allison Quinn (Claudia); special nieces Stephanie, Angela, Beverly, Deana, Oma Lee and many other cherished nieces, nephews and extended family.

    Predeceased by her husband Peter Frederick Quinn in 1990 and daughter Kimberly Ann in infancy. Posie was also predeceased by her beloved sisters Suzanne and Audrey; brothers Douglas “Dicey” and Dean Martin and son-in-law David Ross.

    Mom had a great sense of humour and was always up for a laugh. She had specially requested her grand-dogs to be honorary pallbearers, and although she may have been kidding us a little, it can’t be said we didn’t follow directions! Sammy, Jag, Nyota, Ruby, Rudy, Nova, Luna, Zeus, Ander, Braxton kindly all have the honour of escorting Mom to a better place.

    Our family would like to thank Mom’s wonderful neighbours Judy and Mark Drew and their grandson, Hunter, for everything they did each day to help Mom, enabling her to maintain her independence in the comfort of her own home. Also, a big thank you to the caring staff of SJRH Emergency Department and the kind paramedics who responded to our call.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 28th from 10 till 11 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, George; two daughters, Angela Ricker (Matthew) of Riverview and Stephanie Moulton of Hampton; two grandchildren, Zachary and Gabrielle; two brothers, Donald Martin (Carole) of Woodstock and Dean Martin of Vancouver; her sister, Dianne Quinn of Saint John; two sisters-in-law, Marion Wargo of Bath and Barb Martin of Woodstock; her son-in-law, Scott Moulton of Hampton; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Suzanne was predeceased by her sister, Audrey Ogden; her brother, Douglas; and by her brother-in-law, Peter.     Dennis Dale “Hud” Oakes of Beechwood passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville. He was born March 27, 1947 and was the son of the late Dennis and Dorothy Oakes. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Frank McDougall.
    Dale is survived by his children, Christopher Oakes (Keisha Oakes), Cory Oakes, Craig Oakes, Mikayla Steeves (Jeffrey Symes); grandchildren, Cameron Oakes, Jovie Oakes, Tobias Oakes, Hunter Oakes (Katelyn Tompkins), Isaiah Oakes (Callie Skinner, Rankin Oakes (Mariah Walker), Abagail Oakes, Dexter DeMerchant, Grace Symes; great grandson, Maverick Oakes; sisters, Marion McDougall, Cynthia McGuigan (Earl), Beverly Billings (Ross); several nieces and nephews.
    Dale loved hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens, and the Toronto Blue Jays were his favorite baseball team. He also had a love for Bingo, Pull Tabs, old country music and often attended dances. He was the life of the party. For several years he pitched on a softball team and in 2003 he coached a woman’s softball team, the Beechwood Dammers.
    Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol from noon to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. from the L. R.     Born in Saint John, NB on July 5, 1948, she was the daughter of Evelyn M. (Derrah) of Bedford, NS and the late Hilston S. Martin.  She was a cherished homemaker, a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist, and a treasured Administrative Professional during her varied career.
    She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Fred Lawton; one daughter, Rhonda Lee Curran (David), of Edmonton, AB; one son, Gregg Lawton (Mary), of Saint John, NB; one sister, Jan Conrod (Mark), of Bedford, NS; three brothers, Hal Martin (Ella), of Mattawa, ON, John Martin (Geeta), of Scarborough, ON, and Garth Martin (Lynda), of Toronto, ON; two grandchildren, Erin and Avery; many nieces and nephews; as well as some cousins and very close friends.     Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 9, 2019, after a year-long battle with Bulbar ALS. Born in Saint John, NB on August 22,1952, loving husband to wife Lynda Guglick (Lockyer) and her daughters Melissa Guglick (Gethin) and Jennifer Guglick. Proud son of the late Hilston S. Martin, and Evelyn M. (Derrah) of Bedford, NS. Loving brother to the late Rhonda Lawton (Fred) of Saint John, NB, Hal Martin (Ella) of Mattawa, ON, John Martin (Geeta) of Scarborough, ON and Jan Conrod (Mark) of Bedford, NS. Garth will be dearly missed by his granddaughter Brynn Walters, nephew Greg Lawton, niece Rhonda Lee Curran, extended Millie family, Guglick family and close friends. Garth had a successful 37 year career with Ontario Hydro after graduating from the University of New Brunswick in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Garth enjoyed curling and golfing at Donalda Club and was a lifelong baseball player and fan extraordinaire. He and Lynda enjoyed good wine, great food, live music and many travel adventures after retirement. He was a true gentleman and amazing human being.
