Obituary:

Carl Richard Ruff, 91, of Lapeer, formerly of Goodrich, died September 18, 2020. He was born April 22, 1929 in Fort Fairfield, Maine to parents Truman and Fern (Kinney) Ruff. Carl married the love of his life, Joyce (Broad) Ruff on October 29, 1949 in New Brunswick, Canada and they spent a beautiful 71 years together.

Carl Worked for General Motors for 30 years retiring in 1982 at the young age of 53. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Canada for 30 years where he developed his love for gardening and splitting wood. Splitting wood was a favorite pastime for Carl and it quickly developed into a love for building his own furniture with wood. His garden was always full of flowers and his favorites were his rose bushes, even though he couldn’t get them to grow in Canada. Above all, Carl loved spending time with his wife and family.

Carl is survived by his wife Joyce Ruff; his children: Sue (Larry) Minkler of Lapeer and Richard (Dena) Ruff of Sawyer, MI; grandchildren: Neill (Brooke) Ruff, Angela Choate, Mellissa (Chris) Atwood, Monica Kinnie and Renee (JD) Cote; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Hope, Hazel, Josiah, Alexis, Alex, Addison, Declan and Samantha. Carl was preceded in death by his son Neill Ruff and his aforementioned parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday September 23, 2020 at New Beginnings Family Church, 1066 N. Saginaw St., Lapeer, MI 48446. Pastor Keith Atwood will Officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Family.

Verdaline (daughter of Leigh BROAD and Bernice DEMERCHANT) was born on 25 Mar 1931 in Piercemont, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada; died on 14 Aug 2021 in Lapeer, Michigan, USA; was buried in Sep 2021 in Lapeer, Michigan, USA.
