- Obituary:
Janet Gail (Yoczik) Gray, 39 of Terry’s Plain Road, Simsbury beloved
wife of Kevin E. Gray died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at home after a
spirit-filled and courageous battle against brain cancer. She was born
March 11, 1966 in Hartford daughter of Thomas R. Yoczik of Simsbury and
the late Judith C. (Fulks) Yoczik. She was a life long resident of
Simsbury. She was a graduate of The University of Hartford, where she
received her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Gray
was a Nursery School Teacher at the Children's Center in Simsbury and
Stepping Stones in Canton. She was an active member of The First Church
of Christ, Simsbury serving as a youth group leader, choir member,
Sunday school teacher, Senior Minister search committee member and
always enjoyed her much loved Women’s Circle. Janet enjoyed her time
spent at the UCC Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, CT and the
lifelong friends she met there. Janet also loved Longerberger Baskets.
Janet was a special person who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She loved children and dedicated her life to them. Her warm smile and
sense of humor will be remembered by all who met her. Janet shared her
husband’s love of history and was a member of the Simsbury Historical
Society. Janet put the needs of others ahead of her own and was always
willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. She was a Super Mom
and beloved friend to many. Besides her loving husband and father she is
survived by her four cherished children, Kelsey, Justin, Jefferson and
Jameson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Brett Aston of
Hebron, and Carol and Keith Labbe of Southington; her mother-in-law,
Gwen Gray of North Haven; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Barbara Gray of North Haven, Linda and Brian Watson of Wallingford and
Paula and David Van Singel of Long Grove, IL; her stepmother, Cynthia
Yoczik of Simsbury, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the
Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, Thursday, April
28, 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, April 29, 3:00 pm
at The First Church of Christ, Simsbury with the Rev. Jonathan Morgan
officiating. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers
memorial donations may be made to the First Church of Christ, and note
in the memo field for the "Gray's Nanny Fund", 689 Hopmeadow Street, or
The McLean Foundation, 75 Great Pond Road, both of Simsbury, CT 06070.
