      Cynthia S. McGuigan
      1954-2024

      The death of Cynthia Sheila McGuigan of Upper Kent occurred on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Cynthia was born June 1, 1954, in Bath and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Dorothy (Martin Butterfield) Oakes. She was predeceased by 1 brother, Dale “Hud” Oakes; brother-in-law, Frank McDougall, mother-in-law, Gladys McGuigan, sister-in-law Carolyn McGuigan.

      Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Earl; 4 daughters, Michelle Chase (Nathan), Kara McGuigan (Ryan), Lisa McLaughlin (Darren), Nicole Clark (Chance); 7 grandchildren, Kadence, Keleigh, Kamden, Carter (Maeve), Casin, Madison and Mavrick who all were the loves of her life; 2 sisters, Marion McDougall and Beverly Billings (Ross); 2 sisters-in-law, Delores McGuigan and Cathy Pickard; 1 brother-in-law, Jack McGuigan as well as many nieces, nephews and extend family members.

      Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Brian Wortman will officiate. The interment will be in the Wharton Cemetery. For those who wish, donations made to the Bath Lions Medical Travel Fund, Bath Fire Department or the Bath Community School Breakfast Program would be appreciated.

      These words of thanks have been composed by Cynthia herself. I would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bruce Lockhart, Dr. Singh-Ranger, Dr. Glader Anan, Dr. Stuart Lockhart, Dr. Stone. To the nurses and staff of Oncology Department at the Upper River Valley Hospital. A special thanks to my loving husband and family who stuck by me through thick and thin, for all their support and encouragement along this journey. Please keep the memories going and have lots of laughs.
