MARTIN, GARTH
August 22, 1952 -January 9, 2019
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 9, 2019, after a year-long battle with Bulbar ALS. Born in Saint John, NB on August 22,1952, loving husband to wife Lynda Guglick (Lockyer) and her daughters Melissa Guglick (Gethin) and Jennifer Guglick. Proud son of the late Hilston S. Martin, and Evelyn M. (Derrah) of Bedford, NS. Loving brother to the late Rhonda Lawton (Fred) of Saint John, NB, Hal Martin (Ella) of Mattawa, ON, John Martin (Geeta) of Scarborough, ON and Jan Conrod (Mark) of Bedford, NS. Garth will be dearly missed by his granddaughter Brynn Walters, nephew Greg Lawton, niece Rhonda Lee Curran, extended Millie family, Guglick family and close friends. Garth had a successful 37 year career with Ontario Hydro after graduating from the University of New Brunswick in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Garth enjoyed curling and golfing at Donalda Club and was a lifelong baseball player and fan extraordinaire. He and Lynda enjoyed good wine, great food, live music and many travel adventures after retirement. He was a true gentleman and amazing human being. He faced his life and illness with dignity, grace, courage and good humour and was an inspiration to all of us. According to Garth's wishes, a private family ceremony and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 16th from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. at Donalda Club, 12 Bushbury Drive, North York. If desired, donations to the National ALS Society or Dorothy Ley Hospice would be appreciated. "May you each be the things you loved and admired most about Garth."
