In Memorium - John MILLIE, born at Monimail, Fifeshire, Scotland, July 13th 1815. Died at Glassville, N.B. Canada July 13th, 1896, Aged 81 years. - It was only a year ago that we followed the remains of the late Mrs. John Millie to the grave - wife of the deceased. The late John Mills received an excellent common school education. He spent the earlier part of his life in various pusuits, in all of which he displayed that indominable industry and sterling integrity which laid the foundations of the honorable independence to which he afterwards arose. He was united in marriage, in due course, to his late wife, Isabella BAIN, daughter of the late Peter BAIN of Leslie and niece of Sir William BAIN, R.N. The fruit of this union was three children, the two eldest of whom died in Scotland. With his wife and youngest child, Peter Bain MILLIE, now married in Glassville and accountant to Timothy LYNCH, one of our largest provincial lumber merchants, he came to New York in 1853. The family remained in the States till 1859 when they came to Westmorland, N.B., where deceased was engaged in the service of the Westmorland Olive Freestone Co. Thence they removed to Glassville in June 1861 where deceased engaged in farming and was long considered an agriculturist of excellent standing, residing on his farm until the day of his death. Reared in the old country to the doctrines of the Presbyterian church, he continued faithful to the last. The remains of the deceased were consigned to the grave in the family burying ground now enclosed with a fine iron fence in Glassville cemetery, Wednesday 15th, Rev. J.K. Beairsto and Rev. J. Home conducting service at the home and the former at the grave. (see original for eulogy)
