  Obituary: Peter G. Tompkins 1951-2025 The death of Peter Gordon (Laing) Tompkins, of Gordonsville occurred on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Peter was born August 1, 1951, in Bath and was the son of the late Ernest and Norma (Laing) Tompkins; he was the chosen son of the late Frank and Mein Laing; he was also predeceased by his brother David (Joe) Tompkins and father and mother-in-law, Ransford Jr. and Marie Giberson. Peter is survived by his wife, Virginia; 1 daughter, Natalie; 2 sons, Eric (Erin) and Nicholas; 6 grandsons, Jaxon, Xander, Colt, Oliver, Mason, and Kohlsen; 1 sister, Sherry Martin (Rome); brothers-in-law, Rockey, Bruce, Quentin; 1 sister-in-law, Victoria Gowan (Jason); chosen daughters, Elizabeth McSheffery (Brian), Jessica McIntosh (Ryan); special nephew, Brandon Giberson as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5-8 pm. A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1 pm from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Joel Bridges will officiate. The interment will be in the Gordonsville Community Cemetery.
