    • Obituary:

      Morley Oakes
      1925-2015

It is with much sadness that the Oakes family announce the death of Morley Leonel Oakes which occurred on July 22, 2015. Morley , born on March 30, 1925 in Piercemont NB, was the son of the late Bernie amd Ruby (Grant) Oakes. He was also predeceased by his wife, Eva; 1 son, Brian and 1 grandson, Luke Doherty.

Morley is survived by 7 children, Avis Doherty (Allen), Sandra Hart (Eric), Debbie Gee (Terry), Mike Oakes (Nancy), Jennifer Pitts, Sterling Oakes and Troy Oakes (Karen); 25 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and Maple his loyal and beloved cat.

Morley enjoyed a full and interesting 90 + years living in Bath, NB for the majority of those years. He operated an Irving garage, automobile body shop, Moto ski sled shop, sold Honda motorcycles, raised beef cattle, administered an ambulance service, SMT bus stop, tow truck service and even owned a maple sugar operation, a fireman, town counselor Morley could do it all. A self made man who's work ethic was exemplary . For fun Morley loved to attend the local music nights to "kick up his heels" with friends. He enjoyed his land, fishpond and sugar camp and could often be found on his tractor, logging, plowing and digging in search of a new adventure. He possessed a keen sense of humor and will be missed by family and the community. A icon in the community has passed, rest in peace Morley.

In keeping with Morley's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. A family interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish donations in Morley's memory, he would have favored a local SPCA or DunRoamin. L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors are entrusted with the arrangements. www.gibersonfuneraldirectors.ca (506) 392-1115
