      Blake A. DeMerchant
      1939-2022

      It is with heavy hearts that the family of Blake Arnold DeMerchant of Beechwood announce his death which occurred Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, surrounded by his 3 girls. Born April 20, 1939 in Holmesville, he was the son of the late Patrick and Stella (McDougall) DeMerchant. He was also predeceased by 1 brother, Linwood.

      Blake loved his family dearly, and his pride and joy were his 2 grandsons, Cameron and Bo. He was a great fisherman and hunter, he also enjoyed his bountiful garden. Blake worked for General Motors, Oshawa, Paul Myles Refrigeration, Halifax and later for NB Power at the Beechwood Generating Station. He will be missed by all who knew him.

      Blake is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley; 2 daughters, Laurie Oakes (Bill) and Lisa Patterson (Lewis); 2 grandsons, Cameron Oakes and Bo Patterson; 4 siblings, Roland DeMerchant (Clara), Allen DeMerchant (Sharon), Wanda Daigle (John) and Beverly Power; sister in law, Ola DeMerchant as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

      A family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mineral Cemetery. For those who wish donations made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors are entrusted with the arrangements.
