Obituary:
Allison Frances McBride
1943 - 2025
It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Allison Frances McBride at the Upper River Valley Hospital. He passed quietly on April 4, 2025, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer. He had just turned 82 on Saint Patrick’s Day.
Allison (Allie), one of 12 boys, was born March 17, 1943, to the late Ralph and Johanna (Josie) McBride in Woodstock NB. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Ralph (Sherry), daughters Andrea (Mark), Lisa (Tim) and brothers Earle (Janet), Ronald, Terry (Ethel), grandchildren Courtney, Travis, Carter and Amanda and great grandchildren. Allie also had a special place in his heart for his dog Katie, who will miss him very much. He is also survived by a very special friend and hunting companion Lance Graham who shared many adventures and stories with Allie.
Allie (Riles) enjoyed many adventures throughout his life but one of his passions was the ability to socialize and tell stories to anyone who would lend an ear. He grew up in a large family so there was always a story or two to tell. He enjoyed nature in general, but he loved the time he could spend on the Meduxnekeag River in the spring of the year picking fiddleheads for his various customers in the area. He always claimed there was nothing like Meduxnekeag Fiddleheads; the others were just wannabes. His other passion was gardening, and he was always known for the house with the big garden below Bulls Creek. He grew a number of different vegetables for himself, but his real joy was being able to take all his extras to the WI Home on Chapel Street in Woodstock for the ladies to can for the winter months; he looked forward to that every year.
One could go on and on about his adventures in life, but he would not want that, he simply would want to be remembered as the man in cowboy boots and a hat, with a story to tell and a smile a mile wide on his face.
Allie was pre-deceased by his brothers Donald, Albert, Richard, Herbert, Clinton (young age), David, Arnold (twin, young age) and Gary.
Keeping with Allie’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. A funeral Service at Christ Church July 11, 2025 @ 2PM
