Shirley Elizabeth Crouse
1937 - 2023
It is with great sadness, that the family of Shirley Elizabeth (Carr) Crouse of Geary, NB, announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on August 31, 2023.
Born on December 11, 1937 in Geary, NB, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Carr and the late Eva (Smith) Carr of Geary, NB; wife of the late Winston Myles Crouse.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Gilbert Crouse (Sandra) of Geary, NB,Winston Jr. Crouse (Kimberly) of Geary, NB; four daughters, Elizabeth-Ann Michaud of Geary, NB, Barbara-Ann Acorn (Sterling) of Geary, NB, Patricia Tibbits (William) of Geary, NB, Darlene Godin (Serge) of Geary, NB; two brothers-in-law, Ernest Scott (Christina), Leslie Crouse (Joan); grandchildren, Amanda, Jamie, Tracey, Carson, Jennifer, Derick, Tyler, Justin, Melissa and Marc-Andre; chosen grandchildren, Charlotte Carr and Maurice Boone; great-grand children, Andie, Miles, Aiden, Tiffani, Tyvek, Brayden, Charlotte, Wyatt, Wesley, Jaxon, Samuel, Jacqueline and Alexis; special nieces, Bertha Grasse and Dianna Toon; special nephew, Richard Robinson; as well as Beatrice (Shaw) Crouse (first wife of Larry Crouse, brother-in-law), and a great grand puppy, Ralph, who slept by her side during the last days to comfort her, with the family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Eva Carr; her husband, Winston Crouse; a son, Derick James Crouse; a great-grand daughter, Hailey Acorn; sisters & brother-in-laws, Grace Carr, Amanda Robinson (Charles), Florence Carr (Coburn), Christina Scott, and Augusta Cochrane (Ottie); brothers & sister-in-laws, Gary Carr, Theodore Carr (Ethel), Hansel Carr (Cornelia), and Hazel Carr (first wife of Hansel); brother-in-laws, Elwyn Crouse (Myrna), Larry Crouse (Connie); sister-in-law, Jacqueline Humble (Donald); as well as Jacqueline's first husband, Irving Clark (Norma); and son-in-law, Gilles Michaud. Shirley was also predeceased by little companions that made her and her husband smile including their last dog, Midnight.
Shirley was a caring mother & grandmother (known as Maw to many), who at 85 continued to operate the gravel pit she and her husband Winston started. She also, up to a couple years ago, still continued her husband’s snow plowing contract for the Oromocto and Giant Tiger Mall.
To honor her father’s wishes, she kept the family farm going by planting gardens, raising cattle and caring for her husband’s Percheron horses. She never missed a birthday or anniversary, even when she was not feeling well. She loved to joke and laugh with her children, hosting lunches with members of her family, playing bingo, cooking, and going for drives to see new places. She was old fashion in her beliefs and taught her children many things. Her strength will forever be remembered by her entire family. She was a Mom who was always there to support her children & grand children.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, Doctors, and staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Extra -mural nurses & Dr. K. Woods for the wonderful care given to their Mom.
Respecting Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
