      Graydon H. Estey
      1944-2013
The death of Graydon Hollon Estey of Milton, Ontario occurred on Friday, September 6, 2013 in Burlington, Ontario. Graydon was born on August 7th 1944 in the small town of Bath, New Brunswick. Graydon was the second of five children born to Rose and Arnold Estey, who were modest potato and dairy farmers in Florenceville NB. Graydon and his brothers Duane, Lloyd and Dean along with his younger sister Helen, helped work the family farm as well as working summers in the McCain fields and factory.

Graydon was the consummate sports fan. As a kid he played everything from pond hockey, baseball, basketball and badminton with the passion of a true athlete. As an adult he played third base on the General Electric baseball league and then in his later years, on the Southside Community Church softball league. Anyone who knew Graydon knew he LOVED his Red Sox, and was overjoyed to spend his 65th birthday taking the grand tour of Fenway Park. If you ask Graydon how well he golfed he’d deny having any skill … and then quietly he’d walk away with the lowest score.

Along with his siblings, Graydon attended school in the small Florenceville schoolhouse from kindergarten to his graduation from High School. After High School, Graydon completed an honors Electrical Engineering Degree at UNB and later, attended night school and earned a Bachelors of Business degree from the University of Toronto.

After graduation he took an engineering position with the General Electric Company where he worked his way up to General Manager of their Burlington facility before taking the leap in 1988 to begin his own enterprise, Estey & Associates. In business, Graydon has enjoyed a stellar reputation among his customers and colleagues for over 45 years. Retirement just wasn’t in his vocabulary … when he was asked if he was allergic to anything his response was always, ‘nope- not even hard work’!

Graydon and Peggy Grall married in 1994 and they have taken great pride in their blended family. Graydon is survived by his two children, Jason, Kendra, and his step- children Dan, Loren, Rachel and the six smartest grandchildren you ever saw: Ellie, Kailey, Brielle, Danica, Brecker and Jensen.

Graydon loved working with wood, and spent many happy hours in his garage creating the beautiful pieces of furniture that now sit in many of our homes.

Graydon was a valued member of the Southside Community Church in Milton, where he volunteered his time to assist in looking after the maintenance for the facility.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville -Bristol on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 4-6 pm.
