    • Obituary:

Cordelia 'Dee' Anne Kinney passed away May 5, 2019 in Summerland, BC at the age of 90 years.
Dee was a "Hedley Girl" born February 14, 1929, the 11th of 12 children of Carl and Nellie Gladish. She grew up on a dairy farm located at Brushy Bottom near Hedley, BC. She married Lloyd Kinney in Penticton, BC in 1948, where they operated an orchard on Kinney Avenue for 25 years. In 1971, Dee and Lloyd moved to Salt Spring Island, BC settling into the community for the next 25 years. Dee returned to Penticton after Lloyd passed in 1997 to be closer to family and friends.
Over the years Dee was an active volunteer in a number of organizations including the Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce, the Penticton Seniors'Drop-In Centre, and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Dee will be remembered for her feisty personality, keen sense of humour and joke telling, quick math-mind, tireless energy, strong opinions, and no-nonsense manner.
Dee will be missed by her sisters Mary Gladish of California and Gwen Sheehan of Fruitvale, BC; children Frank (Wendy) Kinney of Summerland, BC, and Bonnie (Barry) Whelan of Powell River, BC; grandchildren Michelle Kinney (Jill) of Victoria, BC, Keegan Kinney (Courtney) and Angela Kinney of Kamloops, BC; and cherished great grandchildren Chela (Tina) of Victoria, BC, and Landon, Dane, and Emerson of Kamloops, BC.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the staff of Dr. Andrew Pavilion for their care and kindness over these past four years. Special thanks also goes to Dee's niece, Diane Huey, who offered piano music to the residents of the pavilion on a regular basis.
Rest easy, 'Little Momma', on your return to Brushy Bottom.
