  Obituary: Shirley Mirleen DeLong July 26, 1936 - November 6, 2022 It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Mirleen DeLong, loving wife of the late Wendell DeLong of Woodstock announce her passing which occurred on November 6, 2022, at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Shirley was born July 26th,1936 and was a daughter of the late Hilston and Edith Delong. Shirley is survived by her daughters; Glenna Monteith, Wanda House, Darlene (Brock) Polchies and Shelley (Kevin) Cluff, along with her sons; Wayne (Elizabeth) DeLong, Earl DeLong. Shirley is also mourned by her sisters; Gaynell Green, Alice Stairs, Sylvia DeLong, Claudia Poole and brother Llyod DeLong, along with her 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with Wendall and her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her sister Georgie Briggs, brother Hilston DeLong and in-laws; Florence, Alma, Azlea, Jessie, Stanley, Earl, Velma, Elmer, Glenna, Ruth and Lloyd. Our family wishes to thank special friends Theresa Kinney and Stirling Grant. Along with friends from 399 Main, especially Eursal Chronkhite. Also, Donnie DeLong and Debbie for all of the prayers and songs with Mom. Mom was a woman of deep faith and was guided to her eternal home with the guidance, support and prayers from Rev. Dale MacDonald and Pastor Carl O’Donnell - thank you for everything. We also want to acknowledge the Oncology Department and 2 East & 2 North of the Upper River Valley Hospital along with Dr. Chandra and Shelley Flewelling. Finally, we wish to thank the Extra Mural Palliative Care team for the care and compassion shown towards Mom. Arrangements are entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville. Visitation hours will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 12-2pm with the service to follow in our chapel. Interment will take place at Charleston Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Woodstock Wesleyan Church.
