Helen Marie Shaw, of Simonds, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, New Brunswick. She was born on November 23, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Idella Giberson.

Helen is survived by her children, Valerie Slipp of Waterville, Patty Gaunce (Jeff) of Florenceville-Bristol, Cecil Shaw (Laurea) of Simonds, Susan Shaw (Mike) of Fredericton and Rodney Shaw (Sabrina) of Bedell; Grandchildren, Anne Chaisson (Matthew), Emma Poliquin (Justin), Frank Slipp (Dafne), Crystal Kent (Thomas), Damon Gaunce (Sheena), Kathleen Patterson (Ted), Graham Shaw, Katrina Barteski (Bradley), Kaylyn Shaw (Guiliano), Daniel Shaw (Taylor), Caleb Shaw (Abby), Matthew Swim (Christin), Luke Swim (Jenny), Carissa Forbes (Brent), Isaiah Shaw (Emily) and Ashley Shaw (Samuel) and 26 great-grand children; sisters; Thelma Billings, and Mary Trecartin; sisters in law Amy (Robert) Littlejohn, Shirley Shaw and many nieces and nephews.
One of her greatest joys was living on the family farm that she and Monte made their home when they married in 1953. She enjoyed spending time in nature and found joy in the simple things in life. She loved driving her buggies out back and spent hours on her porch enjoying the view of the river, watching the grandchildren play or playing a game of crib. Many people over the years received homemade cards that she created, with a handwritten poem inside. Her grandchildren always knew that they would get a phone call from her on their birthday and specially designed clothespin at Christmas.
For years she could be seen walking the Simonds Road with her brightly coloured hats. Now she is walking the streets of gold with her precious Jesus. We entrust her to Jesus and look forward to the day when we will walk those streets with her.
Visitation will be held at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday the 14th at 1:00 p.m. from the Britton Funeral Home. Pastor Harry Soucey will be officiating. The interment will be in the Middle Simonds Cemetery. If so desired, donations can be made to the Central Carleton Nursing Home. www.brittonfh.ca. 506-375-4343
