HAZEN AVERY
On Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital Center, and at the age of 77, Hazen Glen Avery went to be with his Lord and Savior after battling a brief illness. Hazen was born in Ashland, on February 6, 1925, the second born son of the late Charles and Cassie Avery; pre-deceased by two brothers Earnest and Lloyd.
Hazen loved to farm, walk,. watch wrestling; but most of all; enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Frances (Pat) of Knowlesville; his three daughters, Joyce Doherty and friend Keith of South Hampton, Gaynell Ritchie and husband Derrall of Greenfield, Donna Guthrie and husband Graham of Knowles-ville; and one son, Glen Avery and wife Krista of Coldstream; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held on December 28, 2002 at the Knowlesville United Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Smith and Michael Horsman officiating. Michael gave the eulogy on Hazen, prepared by his family. Leonard Orser provided music. Vera Doherty sang the hymns "Life is Like a Mountain Railroad" (Hazen's favorite song) and "Consider the Lilies".
Pallbearers were six grandsons: Chris, Mark, David, Troy, Kyle, Tyson and 2 good friends/relatives: Donnie Jordan and Gerald Esterbrooks. Honorary pallbearers were two great grandsons: Chad and Adam.
Interment was in the Esdraelon Cemetery, The Forest Hill.
