Duane Murray Petley
1950 - 2021
We are saddened to share the passing of Duane Murray Petley, son of Jacqueline (Ebbett) and the late Thomas Petley, at his homestead on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Duane was born in Rexton, NB and lived his life in Carleton County. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends in the sanctuary of his garage, whenever anyone stopped by for a say. All were welcome and invited to come on in.
Duane had a strong work ethic and would share his knowledge and experience with others on the jobs he had worked throughout the years. Duane took pride in his work and would always be available whenever and wherever a job would take him. He spent his last working years with Acott Construction.
One of his favourite activities was running the back roads and trails of New Brunswick in his side by side with friends and with his loving wife & best friend, Valerie, by his side.
His favourite toy by far though was his Farmall Super M.
Duane is survived by his wife Valerie (Thomas) and furbaby, Maggie (or Margaret when she was in trouble). He was the very proud father of his two boys, Karl (Rosalind) and Darren (Jaclynn Kaminski). Aside from his sons, his grandchildren were the stars of his eyes: Brent (Breanna), Liam, Rachael, Jayden, McKenna and Hunter, along with great grandchild, Rian. These children were all in on the freedoms allowed at Grampy’s house and that their parents’ permissions were not required.
Duane had received the gift of care and love of his siblings from the start of life to his new beginning. He had the love of sisters: Dolores Gill (Dan); Caroline Demerchant (Terry); Noriene Caldwell; Carla Petley (Syl Amos); and Janice Corey (Ross) and brother Danny Petley (Sheila). He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Duane was predeceased by brother in law, Darryl Caldwell.
A most special thank you to Dr. Marco, Dr Chatur, and Extra Mural for making it possible for Duane to pass away peacefully at home, where he did it his way.
To his family and his many friends, thank you for being there and being a part of Duane’s life throughout the years.
For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Woodstock branch of Extra Mural Program, or a memorial of donors choice.
Due to restrictions of COVID-19, there will be a private visitation for immediate family only. We ask for your understanding during this difficult time.
If you can’t run with the big dogs, you just stay on the porch, c’mon!
