      Verna J. Munden
      1940-2024

      It is with sadness that we announce the death of Verna Jane Munden of Glassville which occurred on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Hospital Dieu St. Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover. Verna was born July 27, 1940, in Howley, Newfoundland and was the daughter of the late Charles and Amelia (Vineham) Newhook. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Robert, Allister, Max, Wilfred and Clarence.

      Verna is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Dennis; 5 children, Pam Vaters, Keven Vaters (Sue), Wilf Vaters (Muriel), Valerie McCowan (Herb) and Leona Berger (Kevin); 6 grandchildren, Kimberly, Jesse, Carla, Sara Jane, Christopher, Tyler; 4 great grandchildren, Loni, Riley, David, Gaige; 1 sister, Violet Marshall as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

      Respecting Verna’s wishes there will be no formal services. The interment will be held at a later date in Newfoundland. For those who wish, donations made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital would be appreciated.
