Margaret T. Reid
1937-2018
The death of Margaret Theresa Reid of Royalton occurred on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 3, 1937 in Listerville, NB she was the daughter of the late Bart and Martha (Anderson) O'Donnell.
In 1956, Margaret began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in upper Royalton with Grades 1-6 . After many years of devotion to her profession, she finished her teaching career in 1994 at Centreville Elementary School teaching Grade 3. She was a devoted Christian and committed to her church. She taught primary Sunday school at the Tracy Mills United Baptist Church for over 20 years and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Tracy Mills Women's Missionary Society for over 25 years.
In retirement, Margaret and Beverly had the opportunity to take some of the road trips they had been looking forward to and were able to cross Canada 5 times in eight years seeing many of the sites they had only seen on calendars. In her free time, Margaret enjoyed watching TV with Beverly. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed the beauty of her flower garden.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Beverly; 3 children, Vicki Reid (George Elliott), Martha Dowling (Bill) and Adam Reid (Jina); 5 grandchildren, Matthew Dowling (Erin), William Dowling, Megan Aiken, Hannah Reid and Hailey Reid; 1 brother, Robert O'Donnell (Marilyn); 1 brother in law, Ward Reid (April); 2 sisters in law, Joan Legere (Paul) and Jeanne Culberson (Harold) as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from the Tracey Mills United Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. Rev Ralph Hamminga will officiate. The interment will be in the Upper Knoxford Cemetery.
