      Doris V. Drost
      1927-2016

      The death of Doris Violet Drost formerly of Riverbank occurred on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the River View Manor, Bath. Born March 13, 1927 in Southampton Parish she was the daughter of the late Murray and Illa (Cullins) Lindsay. She was also predeceased by her husband, Hazen; 1 grandson, Quentin; 3 sisters, Mavis, Donna and Myrna; 2 brothers, George and Roy.

      Doris delivered rural mail throughout Florenceville and Oakland for several years then taking a position as a assistant Post Mistress at the Florenceville Post Office until her retirement. She was very active in her church and spending her summers at Bannon Camp to help counsel young children. She had a great love for dogs and cats, bringing many strays home over the years that would have never survived without her kind heart. Her children and grandchildren were very important in her life. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. Many happy time were spent at their camp in Greenfield were she loved to cook, the larger the crowd the better, was her philosophy.

      She is survived by her 4 children, Mancel Drost (Sharon), Raymond Drost (Cathy), Larry Drost (Alanda) and Heather Gilliss (Morris); 11 grandchildren, Leslie Drost (Doris), James Drost, Patrick Drost (Cheryl), Meredith Kettles (Brian), Denis Drost, Kathie-Mae Drost, Carl Drost (Anne), Melissa Baker (Mitch), Naomi Gilliss, Josh Delong (Michelle) and Jonathan DeLong (Alyson); 17 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

      Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 12:30-1:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm. Rev. Michael Trail will officiate. Interment will be in the Wicklow Community Cemetery at a later date.
