    • Obituary:

      Arthur F. Tweedie
      1928-2021

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our rock and leader, Arthur Frederick Tweedie. After a long and demanding battle with health issues and the recent passing of his beloved wife Mary, Arthur left us suddenly but peacefully early Friday morning, April 2nd 2021 with family by his side.

Arthur was born December 9, 1928 in Greenfield, NB, and would remain a fixture on the family homestead for all of his 92 years. The son of G. Frederick and Alice (nee Underhill), Arthur was predeceased also by brother Edwin and sisters Dorothy Saunders and Joan Boone. Arthur’s loving and cherished wife and constant companion for the past 63 years, Mary, sadly predeceased him in November 2020 as well.

A caring, loving and devoted husband, father, Papa and great-grandfather, Arthur will be forever loved and cherished by his surviving family. Daughter Nancy Lee, sons Peter and Paul (Debbie), grandchildren Matthew (Briana), Cole and Brendan will miss greatly Papa, who doted on them all. And the youngest in the family, great granddaughter Brielle, who brought a sparkle to his eyes, will miss knowing a wonderful man. Arthur is also survived by a sister, Barbara Harvey, sister in-law Ethel Tweedie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dad/Papa was devoted faithfully to his family. He was caring and giving, always willing to help any and all demands of his time and energy from family and friends alike. He will always be remembered for being in the stands or on the sidelines for every hockey game or baseball game that his children played in, driving carloads of kids to and from games all over the province -. and he continued to be a cheerleader for all the grandkids as they made their way through hockey and ball games as well. You could always find Papa and Nana in the stands where ever and whenever they were needed.

Dad loved the outdoors. Although not into hunting or fishing, he loved being outdoors and being active. He enjoyed going camping with the family during better health times, loved the old-time family get togethers for Sunday picnics, and he especially loved snowmobiling with the old boys' club -. lots of miles and smiles!!

Dad will be forever remembered for his incredible work ethic and devotion to the family farm. From first light until no more light, from planting to harvest and every day in between, he could be found working tirelessly to provide for his family. He grew a small modest farm into a thriving and prosperous business that his sons, and now grandsons are continuing to build and grow with, a testament to his drive and desire to succeed, to provide a future for his growing family.

Dad/Papa will also be remembered for his presence on the back roads and field roads around Greenfield. You could always count on him driving along in his truck, checking up on the work, sitting on the headlands or taking up a vantage spot on a hill to survey the fields and make sure we were doing our work. Past few years has seen him spending as much time on his golf cart as he did in his truck, checking up on things. Lots of dusty, rough and hot miles put on with his “4 wheeler buggy” (not really) -. but it took him where ever he wanted to go!

Our family would like to express our special thanks to the staff at Hospital Hotel Dieu in Perth for their care and attention to our fathers needs during his final days. Would also like to thank Dr. David Bell for his wonderful care for Arthur and thank him for the extra months he was able to give us to have with our Dad/Papa. Would also like to acknowledge Dr. Wayne McLauglin for his years of dedication in caring and attending to both dad and mum. Cannot thank him enough for all he was able to provide in medical care until his recent retirement. Thank you very much.
