      Duane M. Canam
      1956-2024

Duane Mark Canam passed away peacefully on 19 September, 2024 at the River View Manor with family by his side.

Born on 26 June 1956, Duane was the oldest son of Mark and Anna (MacDonald) Canam of Oakland, NB. He was predeceased by his parents Mark and Anna Canam.

Duane is survived by brothers, Robert and Sheila (Martin); Manderville and Rachel (Juhasz); Leonard and Candace (Evers); Chris Canam; sisters, Kimberly and Derrick Reese; Raymah and Derrick Hickey; Heidi and Jason Hallihan; Rosetta and Doug Bell. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Duane had spent many years in the lumber industry as: a labourer, mill wright, loader operator, and sawyer to name a few. He was an avid reader who compiled a large collection of literature over the years. He also had a passion for the wilderness and hunting. He enjoyed many hunting seasons at the camp in Grand Lake. After years he turned to capturing the wildlife through photos. Duane, some where along the line took up painting. He studied and watched many shows on the Art of painting and would spend hours working on a single painting. He had the patience.
He loved family gatherings; every holiday was a feast following by 12 - 15 Canam’s in a room with everyone talking at the same time. He wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Duane loved the staff at the River View Manor, he made some very close friends during his stay. The family would like to personally thank the Staff at the River View Manor for all kindness and Love that they gave Duane. Such an amazing staff, that in the final days made him so comfortable.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Stickney Recreation Center, 53 Bell Street in Stickney on Saturday 28 September from 2-5 pm. There will be a private family interment at a later date. For those that wish, memorial donations should be made to the Hunter Community Cemetery, River View Manor or a charity of your choice.
