  Obituary: George A. Darkis 1930-2018 The death of George A. Darkis of Gordonsville occurred on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Born June 12, 1930 in Bristol, he was the son of Samuel and Gladys (Perry) Darkis. He was also predeceased by his one sister Maude Trafford and daughter in law Sandra Darkis. George is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Ruth; his children, Debbie Wood (Jerry), Samuel Darkis (Donna), G. Jane Darkis, Juanita Poirier (Joe) and Sarah Darkis; 8 grandchildren, Emily Wood, Thomas Wood, Carrie Wood, Jason Darkis, Matthew Darkis, Margaret Poirier, Patrick Poirier, and Joey Poirier; 5 great grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Katie, Kira and Connor as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. George is the last surviving member of his immediate Family. Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Saturday September 1, 2018 from 1-2pm, funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Vaughn Palin will officiate. The interment will be in the Bristol Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
