      KILCOLLINS, LAVETA MILDRED (DOW) 1916-2006- The passing of Laveta Mildred (Dow) Kilcollins occurred peacefully at York Manor in Fredericton, on February 28, 2006. Born in Houlton, Maine on February 26, 1916, Laveta grew up in Bristol. She lived most of her adult life in Bath, and worked with her husband Fred in his funeral business until his passing in 1972. Laveta is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Arden Jones) of Fredericton, grandsons Peter Kilcollins (Diane) of Winnipeg and Michael McQuade of Prince Rupert, BC, great grandsons Peter and Justin of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, step-granddaughter Alissa Jones of Fredericton, sisters Glenna Rich of California and Leona (Paul) Hill of New Hampshire; daughter-in-law Bette Pearson of Sussex, sister-in-law Winnifred Kilcollins of Wicklow, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her husband Fred, sons, Wayne (1945) and Frederick Jr. (1965), parents, Earl and Clara Dow, and sisters, Ardean Brooks and Evelyn Foisy. A Registered Nurse, Laveta was a life-long caregiver and nurturer. Preferring to work quietly behind the scenes, she was an active volunteer in the community. She was awarded life membership in both the Women's Institute and the Northern Carleton Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Baptist Church. Known for making beautiful quilts and afghans, her handiwork can be found around the globe. Visitation will be on Friday, March 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Kilcollins Funeral Home in Bath. The funeral will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or York Manor Nursing Home. There will be an Eastern Star service Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. www.kilcollins.com
