      Barry Crain
      1937-2017

It is with sadness we announce the death of Barry Stephen Crain, who passed away on June 2, 2017, just 12 days before his 80th birthday.

Dad was born the eldest son of Barry and Helen Crain in Beechwood, NB. In 1958 he married our Mother, Jean (Demerchant). They had 3 sons, Allison (Janet), Kevin (Rhonda) and Alden (Tracey). Dad had 6 grand children, Jadon (Patricia), Julie (Mark), Brydon, Jake (Jessica), Cameron (Chandler) and Jackie. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Elwood, Kenneth and Clarence. Sadly, his death occurred just 6 days after the funeral of his Sister-In-Law, Debbie Crain (Murray). Dad was married to Jean for 20 years. He married again in 2001 to Hazel Hopkins. In between was a long relationship with Olga Dalgleish of Alberta. His last few years were spent single.

Dad lived an adventurous life, moving his family to Ontario in 1961 where he worked at General Motors Canada. We returned to NB in 1971 where he took up carpentry doing everything from small renovations to building one of the first modernized dairy barns in the Centerville area. Eventually Dad moved by himself to Alberta and had many stories to tell of travelling and working in Northern Canada and Alaska, fishing salmon and hunting moose. He could turn his hand to most anything and worked at more jobs than we can count.

For the last year and a half Dad rented a small house in Keirsteadville, NB, close to Alden, Tracey and Jackie. Having Dad coming and going and being able to enjoy watching his youngest granddaughter, Jackie, growing up was a special gift to Alden’s family. Friday night pizza was a regular event.

Dad will be missed for his stories and teasing.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from 7 to 8:30pm. Visitation will also be held at Beechwood Baptist Church on Friday, June 9th from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8pm. Funeral service, conducted by his son Rev. Alden Crain, will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00am from Beechwood Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Upper Kent Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Barry may be made to a Living Memorial or the memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through SherwoodsFuneralHome.com.
