      Jean H. DeMerchant
      1939-2023

Jean Helen (Crain) Demerchant passed on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 peacefully into heaven's portals from her home in Florenceville-Bristol.

Jean was born in Beechwood, N.B. on November 6, 1939, to the late Barry and Helen (Post) Crain. She is also predeceased by three brothers: Barry Jr. and wife Jean, Clarence and wife Laura, Kenneth, and sister-in-law Debbie. Jean was the only daughter in a family of five brothers, which is probably why she grew to be mighty in will and character despite her petite stature.

Jean is survived by her husband Robert, son Brent (Connie) and daughter Cindy (Lew) Denny; grandchildren Nathan (Pamela) Denny, Shane (Michelle) Demerchant, Jenna (Clay) Brink, Colby (Jessica) Demerchant and Matthew (Melissa) Denny; great-grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Logan, Zane, Arya, Kolten, Kowen, Taylor, Lyla, Evangeline, Miller, Luke and Rory; brothers Darryl (Gloria) and Murray Crain, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jean met Robert (Bob), the love of her life and loving husband of 63 years, in 1958. They were married in Oshawa, Ontario and lived the first 9 years of their wedded life there. They welcomed two children into their home: Brent Robert in 1960 and Cynthia Lynn in 1961.

In Oshawa, and upon their return to N.B., Jean made her home a welcome haven for one and all. She was a conscientious employee of NBTel (switch board operator), McCain Foods and later the Bath Hospital, retiring in 1990.

Jean loved her family with an immense love - showering them with affection and approval. She demonstrated her love with ample supplies of the best doughnuts EVER made and pies that could only be described as heavenly. She loved life and took advantage of every opportunity to live it to the fullest. She loved camping, snowmobiling and biking, playing cards and soaking up the sun.

Jean was dedicated to her church and Lord - believing that Jesus made a difference in her life.

Jean was surrounded by those who love her during her 5 months of palliative care. Jenna, Melissa, Cindy and Connie lovingly attended to her with the help of Gloria, Debbie and Carol, who became like daughters to her.

Her family is more than appreciative of the fantastic care provided by the Extra-mural nurses and Kindred Care home workers.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. at True North Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Palmer officiating. A committal service will be held at a later date.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to True North Baptist Church or the Mineral Cemetery.
