      Leonard Robert Hanson
      1940-2013

The death of Leonard Robert Hanson of Knowlesville occurred on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Born December 8, 1940 in Three Brooks, NB he was the son of the late Leon and Ena (Pitt) Hanson. He was also predeceased by 1 brother, Norman Hanson; 3 son in laws, Joseph Saulis, David Nye and Keith Williams.

On July 15/13 a devoted and amazing husband, father, and grandfather made his final journey home. Leonard met his beautiful wife of 52 years and together they raised 13 children. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and God.

Leonard began working in the woods at the age of eight and continued this career until his health began to fail him. He loved horses, leather work and wood carving. In the last five years of his life he began painting. Many beautiful works of art hang in our homes today. We were all amazed at his hidden talent. He always saw the beauty in nature and was able to bring it forth on canvas. We are going to miss you so much...... until we meet again.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Claudeen Burtt (Bill), Norah Saulis, Debbie O`Donnell (Robert), Linda Ballenthin (Paul), Robert Hanson (Shelly), Lisa Sherwin (Blair), Susan Nye, Sandra Hanson (Ken), Nancy Hanson, Darlene Williams, Paul Hanson (Patty), Scott Hanson (Patricia) and Tom Diamond (Dede); 30 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Herbie Hanson (Maxine), Arnold Hanson (Linda), Mary Jensen (Jim) and Annie Hanson and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held from the Juniper United Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2:00pm from the church. Rev. Carroll Carter, Rev. Everett Munn and Rev. Landon Decker will officiate. Interment will be in the Knowlesville Cemetery. Donations made to the Knowlesville Cemetery, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
