James HEMPHILL died at Northampton (Carleton Co.) Sept. 2nd. He was 65 years of age. He was a native of Ireland but came to this country when quite young and spent the greater part of his life in this county. When in his prome he was a man of great strength and endurance. Some years since, as the result of an injury, he lost a leg, but up to the time of his sickness he continued to work on his farm. For a number of years he was collector of taxes in his parish. He was an Orangeman and was buried on the Sunday following his death under the auspices of that brotherhood. Rev. C. Comben preached on the occasion. He leaves a widow, two sons and one daughter.
