Notes - Note:
Hiram Holmes was born the oldest son of Moses Holmes (son of Moses Holmes the Loyalist) and Olive Bubar in Bristol, before the family removed to Wicklow in 1826. It was in that Parish while growing up that he met his wife Pheoba Green, daughter of Joseph Green and Susanna Sophronia Kinney.
Hiram along with father Moses and brother Daniel, and also brother in law Edmund/Edward Kinney petitioned for land grants in 1844 after they had cleared land and built homes beforehand and permanently removed to Canaan, that is now known as Holmesville.
Hiram's death report can be found in Johnson's newspaper records, and was reported that he died in Holmesville, was age 68 and left a wife and 10 children. he is undoubtedly interred in the Buckley with many of his family members and neighbors. His grave has no permanent marker. His wife Phoeba died 13 years later in Maine and was inexplicably buried there.
