MILO - Vera M. Burton, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Oct. 14, 1999, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born June 19, 1906, in Upper Waterville, N.B., Canada, the eldest daughter of Woodford and Frances (Tompkins) Rockwell. After becoming a U.S. citizen, she married Harold H. Burton. They lived in Oakfield and then in Derby, raising eight children and their beloved eldest granddaughter, Bonita Marie Pelkey Cormier. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Milo. Vera was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her plants and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her children,..... and their spouses. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a twin daughter, Maxine Towne; three sisters, Erma Hillman, Ada Canning and Ida Crouse; a great-grandchild, Adam Bell; a great-great-grandchild, Samantha Cox. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the United Baptist Church in Milo with Rev. Ernest Madden and the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery.
