    • Obituary:

The death of Patricia Marie McSheffery of Bath occurred on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her home. Born June 28, 1932 in Holmesville she was the daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (Collins) Doherty. She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph McSheffery and 1 brother, Charles Doherty.

Patricia is survived by her 7 children, Dorothy, William, Joseph, James (Velvet), John (Kim), Daniel (Maura) and Mary MacLeod (Derrick); nine grandchildren, Megan, Joseph, Geneva, Sean, Ryan, Harris, Michael, Lauren and Amelia; 7 siblings, Connie Dumouchel (Andre), Cecelia Boyd, Jerome “Buddy” Doherty (Joyce), Brian Doherty, Mary Brown, Sheila Hamilton (Harold) and Dianne Gray (Robert); 2 brothers-in-law, Gerald McSheffery (Velda) and Eugene McSheffery; 2 sisters-in-law, Ellen “Nell” Doherty and Doris Markey and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Patricia's Nurse Practitioner, Crystal Broad as well as Extra-Mural and to her home care worker Linda Davenport who helped keep her comfortable enabling to spend her final days at home. Also, special thanks to the Emergency Room doctors and nurses at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville and Hotel Dieu Hospital in Perth Andover.

Patricia was well known in the community for her many years as an elementary school teacher, having earned her Bachelor of Teaching from UNB in 1980. She began her teaching career in one-room schools in Nerepis, Rosine, Kilburn and Moose Mountain before finally settling at Bath Elementary where she completed nearly 32 years of teaching. There, she touched the lives of many students and created long lasting friendships with her colleagues.

In later years, she had more time to volunteer in the community and in her church. Her pies and bread were favourites at community events and fundraisers. Additionally, there are few people who have not received a card of celebration or condolence stuffed with colourful confetti. These are just a few of the many things that will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11:00 am from St. John the Evangelist Church, Johnville. The interment will be in the Johnville Cemetery.
