    • Obituary:
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth (Hamilton) Duffield, age 94, of Woodstock. Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, August 4th, 2023, at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock.
Mary was born on August 10th, 1928, to James and Grace (Hayes) Hamilton in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
Mary began her career as a telephone operator in Woodstock. When they closed the Woodstock office she relocated to Fredericton, although this is not where her travelling started. Mary then went to Ontario as many of her siblings did at the time. When she returned to Woodstock, she spent her days working at the drive-in theatre, Stedman’s, Canadian tire, and eventually she became a seamstress, working for Sercerchi’s. Mary then went out west, where she worked as a seamstress before becoming a nanny. While working as a nanny, the family decided to relocate to Utah, Mary loved an adventure, so she drove the family’s Mercedes down and worked 6 months before returning home. After retirement Mary filled her time with many hobbies, she loved knitting, sewing, quilting, and needle point to name a few.
Mary is survived by three children, Barbra (John) Rockwell, Donald Duffield, and Karen (Eric) Duffield. Three grandchildren Jodie (Cassie) Rockwell, Todd Rockwell, and Megan Duffield. Mary is also survived by four siblings Greta Jackson, John Hamilton, Wallace Hamilton, and Judy Riordon.
Mary was pre-deceased by her mother Grace and father James, as well as siblings Margaret Jacques, Marie Hartley, Bruton Hamilton, Louis Hamilton, and Arthur Hamilton. Sibling in-laws James Jacques, Al Hartley, Audrey Hamilton, and John Riordon
Mary was a very special lady will be missed by many.
