  Obituary: It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sterling Vernon Carmichael who passed away peacefully at his home in Grafton, NB on October 4, 2021. Sterling was born November 25, 1933 in Oakland, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Campbell) Carmichael. He was also predeceased by his oldest granddaughter whom he had a special bond with, Kiska Carmichael-Ruff that passed away earlier this year; great granddaughter, Brianna Carmichael; 1 sister, Muriel Palin (William); 1 brother, Ronald Carmichael (Mavis). Sterling Carmichael has lived a lifetime in his 87 years, he started work at McCains in 1959 at .85 cents an hour. Sterling moved up the chain quickly as he was a dedicated hard worker. McCain's was a second family to Sterling. There he met a man named Murray Lovely that requested to work with Sterling as he always showed up ready and willing to do any type of job. Sterling married Wanetta Swim February 21, 1956. Sterling is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Wanetta; their 3 children, Vernon Carmichael (Avis), Rosalee Carmichael, and Leila Giberson (Thomas); his 5 grandchildren, Charlie Carmichael, Travis Ruff (Heather) Brandy Ruff, Christopher, and Sarah Giberson; great grandchildren Keara Barrett, Emma Ruff, Addison Ruff, Indiana Ruff, Brandy Brown, Deidra Jinson, and Austin Drake. Sterling always love to catch a ride in the big trucks with his son Vernon, and his daughter Rosalee in her truck, because along the way there was always time for pie. Sterling will be continuously remembered by smile his devious laugh, the stories he shared, and the jokes he pulled on loved ones. A private family gathering will be held. Interment will be in the Hunter Cemetery, Stickney. The family would like to express a special thanks to The Extramural Program. Donations can be made in honour of Sterling to DunRoamin’ Stray and Rescue as Sterling loved his pets dearly. L.R.
