    • Obituary:
The death of Melvin Thomas Donovan of Long Settlement occurred on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Born January 24, 1944 in Aroostook Junction, NB he was the son of the late Guy and Leola Donovan. Melvin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Juanita; 1 daughter, Kelly Lynne Berry; 1 brother, Arthur Donovan; 2 sisters, Janet Donovan and Anna Thomas.
Our dad enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his family and his sweetheart of 54 years, Juanita. He took great pleasure in gardening and loved the first cukes of the season. He liked farming and enjoyed the peace of a warm barn and well fed animals. Our dad also like to hunt and fish and appreciated a good old hunting story. One of dad‘s greatest joys was his camp in Kenneth. It was truly his happy place. It was his solace and his oasis. It was his place to make a stew, have a drink and think things over. Dad also had a great friend and neighbour to share life with at The Camp. Dale was his hunting buddy, his drinking partner and they shared a great many long chats. We will miss our dad for many reasons. His grandchildren will miss Papa but we all hope he and Mom are together again, living their best life.
Melvin is survived by his 5 children, Debbi Donovan (Keith), Vicki Carter (Owen), Heidi Thomas, Guy Donovan (Laura) and Grant Donovan (Nikki); son in law, Larry Berry; 9 grandchildren, Robert Berry (Ashley), Jordan Berry, Jessica Berry (Logan), Connor McFarlane (Rae), Michael Carter (Hannah), Mitchell Carter (Brooke), Claire, Liam and Griffin Donovan; 1 great grandson, Sawyer; 2 brothers, Aubrey and Marvin Donovan; 1 sister in law, Mavis Donovan as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel. The interment will be in the Good Corner Cemetery.
