    • Obituary:

It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, Eldon York, who passed away at his home on February 17, 2023.

Born in Woodstock on January 3, 1950 to the late Stella (Shaw) and Lorne York. Eldon was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara (Nye) York, one sister Joyce and one brother Weldon.

Eldon was a kind and gentle man, who loved his family dearly. An avid outdoorsman, he could always be found at the salmon pool along the Saint John River. One of his greatest pleasures was hosting the annual salmon fry underneath his carport every summer. He also spent many hours hunting on Ketchum Ridge, sitting hours upon hours waiting for the big one to appear. His love for cutting wood could be seen as you drove by his home, where you would find no less than 6 cord of tree length waiting for the hottest day, to be cut and split.

Eldon was a Stationary Engineer by trade and was employed with McCain Foods for 35 years. He also could be found at the arenas and curling clubs, up and down the river valley, making ice, doing maintenance and taking the ice out.

Eldon leaves to mourn: his 4 children Corey (Nicole), Jody (Betty-Jo), Marty (Becky) and Stephanie (Jerry); 9 grandchildren Trevor, Travis, Shelby, Tyson, Natalie, Nathaniel, Marleigh, Ella and Alex; 3 special great grandchildren, Rylan, Skylynn, and Jaxson; step-mother Norma York; 4 brothers Ivan, David (Lynn), Paul and Stephen; 5 sisters Carolyn (Bennie), Gaynelle, Annabelle (Blair), Marjorie (Brian) and Marilyn (Richard); dear friend and brother-in-law Dale Nye. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Eldon will be held at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol, on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Oral McAffee officiating. The interment will be in the Bristol Community Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. www.gibersonfuneraldirectors.ca. 506-392-1115
