- Obituary:
Reid Haldon January 6, 1932 - October 24, 2007 Reid Gray, beloved husband of Margaret, father of Laura, and father-in-law of Craig, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the age of 75 years, following a brave struggle with heart problems. Reid was born and raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick, where he graduated from high school. He attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, earning Degrees in Math and Geology in 1953. From there he set out to see the world, starting in Western Canada in the geophysical industry, which became his lifelong career. He got as far as Alberta where he met and married Margaret Tumoth in 1955. Reid's work took the young couple to the Southern U.S. where Laura was born. The family spent time in Cuba, Chile, Indonesia, and Singapore before returning to Calgary in 1976. At that time, Reid joined Petro Canada where he worked until his retirement in 1990. He never lost his understanding of or feeling for work in the field. Retirement brought new interests in golf and travel. Reid and Margaret enjoyed visits home to New Brunswick, winter trips to Arizona and North Carolina, and longer excursions to Australia, South East Asia, and Africa. He was a man with a wonderful sense of humour and a sense of fairness to all. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret and daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Craig; as well as many other relatives and friends. Reid was predeceased by his parents Laura and Haldon Gray.
