    • Obituary:

The biggest smile, the eternal optimist, the warmest welcome, a purveyor of finding the joy in the most simple pleasures of life. This is what we lost on January 20th, 2021 when Don Wolverton, of Tracey Mills, New Brunswick passed away from an injury suffered weeks prior.

Don was born to Donald Sr and Bessie Wolverton (Giberson) on August 6th, 1942 in Chatham, New Brunswick. Don found his sweetheart, Carol Witherly, at a community dance in Arthurette in 1963 and married her in 1965. Their love story included building a campground in Hamilton, Ontario, raising four children on Wolverton Mountain who adore them and living the snowbird lifestyle in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Don was a hard worker who loved a project around the farm and in his leisure time he loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was the President of the New Brunswick Trout Farmers Association for many years and a constant advocate of stocking public waterways in the province. He served as the President of the Florenceville Garden Club for years. Don was always happiest when hosting friends and family in Tracey Mills or Florida, sharing fine donuts, a good story and plenty of laughter. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

His legacy will be continued by his wife of 55 years, Carol, children Kelly (Carson), Donald (Lisa), Jamie (Dorothy), and Joelle (Chris) and nine grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, Connor, Donald “DJ”, Olivia, Caden, Abigail, Kaitlyn and Stevie along with many nieces and nephews. Don is survived by his siblings, twin Harry, David, and Eva. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Anna, Doris and Madeline.

In lieu of donations, because Don had such pride of his beautiful gardens, Carol and the “kids” ask that you plant something beautiful in Don’s memory at your own home.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a future date so that all of us who love him dearly can gather together.
