      Nellie A Brooks, born April 4,1922, of Hillsborough, NB, and formerly of Glassville, NB, passed away January 4, 2003, at the Moncton City Hospital following a four month illness.

      The wife of the late George E. Brooks and daughter of the late Edward and Lily White of Divide, NB, she had been residing in Hillsborough, NB, near her family since October, 1993.

      In addition to her many friends and acquaintances, she is survived by six children (and their spouses): Helen (Perry) Mador, Calgary, AB; Earnest (Anne) Brooks, Bathurst, NB; Sheila (George) Forsythe, Hillsborough, NB; Melvin (Linda) Brooks, Carleton Place, ON; Wavel (Carla) Brooks, Moncton, NB; Wuanita Brooks, Calgary,AB, twelve grandchildren and threegreat-grandchildren.

      She is also survived by four sisters, Edna, Georgina, Isabel and Avis, and three brothers, Henry, Clarence, and John. She was predeceased by her husband, George; infant daughters, Nora, Nancy and Cheryl; brothers, Austin, Fred, Sandy, Donald, Edward, Alton; and sisters, Elsie, Shirley and Anna.

      The body rested at Kilcollins Funeral Home in Bath and funeral service was held January 8 at Glassville United Church with Rev. Robert McCarthy officiating and assisted by Rev. Kenny Stoddard, who did the eulogy.

      Her granddaughter, Amanda Forsythe, sang Amazing Grace and Rev. Eric Smith sang In the Garden and Lord, I'm Coming Home. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons; Frank, Michael and Darren Forsythe, Robert Brooks, Justin and Shane Brooks and great-nephew Tovy Clendenning.

      Other grandchildren are Tammy and Shawn Mador, Melinda Brooks and Robin and Katie Brooks. Many floral tributes and memorials were received. Internment will take place in Glassville United Church cemetery in the spring.
