Notes - Obituary:
Gertrude Dora (Nixon) Howatt passed away on July 10, 2015 at the Riverview Manor in Bath, NB at the age of 89. She was born in Bath on January 31, 1926 to George E Nixon and Lydia J (Simpson) Nixon.
Gertrude worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Bath, Woodstock and Saint John and Christies and the Council of Maritime Premiers in Amherst until her retirement. She was predeceased by her first husband Douglas Kilpatrick and her second husband Austin Howatt. Also, her parents, five brothers Donald, Allan, Claude, Joe and Murray and three sisters Edna MacDonald, Helen Ruth Stilwell and Frances Giberson.
She is survived by her step-daughter Paula Peterson, dear friend Elda Baxter and several nephews and nieces.
Gertrude was a fun person to be around even as her dementia took its toll. She enjoyed hunting partridge, camping and singalongs and her friends and family.
She was always appreciative of the staff at Riverview Manor and the regular care and near daily visits from her niece Marion Wargo.
At Gertrude’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in the Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2 pm with George Nixon officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
