Notes - Obituary:
The passing of Helen Ruth Stillwell, of Fredericton, wife of the late Harvey Stillwell, occurred on May 11, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 13, 1924 in Bath, she was a daughter of the late George Edwin and Lydia Jane (Simpson) Nixon.
Helen was a member of the Bath United Church. She was a member of the R.C.A.F for three years, serving one year in Newfoundland (1943-44) and two years in Ontario (1944-45). She loved to cook and do oil paintings. Helen is survived by her daughter, Lynda Ruth Rogers (Laverne) of Illinois; three grandchildren, Robin Brown (Todd), Jason Rodgers (Christol) and Aaron Rodgers (Carrie) all of Illinois; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Howatt of Fredericton; brother-in-law, Douglas Stillwell of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Wayne; two sisters, Edna MacDonald and Frances Giberson and five brothers, Donald, Allan, Claude, Joe and Murray.
There will be a private visitation. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11 am in Douglas Rural Cemetery; a reception will follow at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
