B. Jerome ``Jimmer`` Thompson
1920-2009
Thompson, B. Jerome (Jimmer), 89, died November 19, 2009 at Riverview Manor, Bath, New Brunswick. He was born March 9, 1920 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the son of Dr. R.G. and Mary Thompson.
Jimmer graduated from Woodstock High School in 1937 and Vocational School in 1938. He volunteered in World War II in 1939 and served in Canada and overseas as Lieutenant in the Canadian Artillery until 1945. He then attended UNB and graduated in 1949 as a Forestry Engineer. He taught at UNB as an assistant professor for one year and Maritime Forest Ranger School for three years.
In 1953 he moved to Juniper to work as vice-president with Flemming & Gibson Ltd., Juniper Lumber Company Ltd. and Fraser Papers. He retired in 2005 at age 85.
He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. He served on the local school board for a number of years. He loved outdoor activities but was especially interested in raising and showing Quarter Horses"
Jimmer is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen. He also leaves four sons, Robert, Joe, Andrew (Sharon) and Paul, and one daughter Megan (Charles) Kelley and four grandchildren Scott and Isaac Thompson, Christian and Ethan Kelley.
There will be no visitation, a private service will be held at a later date.
His family extends its sincere thanks to those who showed much kindness to Jimmer during his last months. Gifts may be made to Riverview Manor in Bath or any charity of the donor’s choice.
