    • Obituary:

Raymond Douglas Crabbe, born on May 20th, 1948, embarked on his final journey to be with his Lord and Savior on March 11, 2024, succumbing to illness. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him deeply.

Raymond's legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Paulette, who was the cornerstone of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Sadie Crabbe, his daughter Angie Crabbe, brother Donald Crabbe, and his cherished grandchildren Caleb Gilbert, Indira Trowsdale, Tiana Trowsdale, and Jemma Trowsdale, nephew Ben, niece Spring, son-in-law Stephen (Grace) Trowsdale, brothers-in-law Jamie (Teresa) Chase, John (Barbie) Chase, Michael (Karen) Chase, and sisters-in-law Rhonda (Alan) Poynton, Patti Chase, Connie Chase, and Robyn Chase.

Raymond was preceded in death by his daughter, Catina Trowsdale, and his father, Deane Crabbe, parents-in-law Paul and Claudia Chase, brothers-in-law David Chase and Robert Chase, and sister-in-law Carol Chase.

Raymond's journey began and unfolded in the town of Bristol, New Brunswick. From his earliest days, he was happiest when in the woods, fishing hunting or trapping.

It was in Bristol that he found a profound and enduring love story with his cherished wife, Paulette. Their union was a testament to the power of love, loyalty, and faith.

Throughout his life, Raymond demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his faith, tirelessly spreading the message of God's love and salvation. His dedication to God was demonstrated daily. He started every morning on his knees in prayer. He had a unrelenting burden for people’s souls. Raymond's faith was not merely a part of his life; it was the guiding force that shaped his existence.

Raymond spent his life, along with his father and brother building the family business, Crabbe Lumber. His work ethic is unsurpassed. He loved work. He did not consider it work...'it's who I am'. Attested to by the fact that very few were able to keep up to his relentless drive to get the job done.

Beyond the business, Raymond's true passion lay in people, caring for his employees, many of whom affectionately referred to him as 'Dad.' His compassion knew no bounds, and his generosity touched the lives of countless individuals.

Raymond wasn't just a man of business; he was a man of the outdoors. When he wasn't busy with the mill, you could find him out in the woods, hunting, guiding, or most often, fishing. There wasn't a fishing spot too remote or too small that he wouldn't explore. From the wilds of Alaska to the shores of Newfoundland, he chased after the perfect catch with a passion that never waned.

Raymond's adventures weren't limited to North America. He found fulfillment in serving others, especially on mission trips to South America. Building schools and delivering radios in the remote mountains was where he truly felt comfortable, making a real difference in people's lives.

Many of his happiest times were spent with his family. Whether they were fishing, riding ATVs, paddling canoes, or just enjoying a cookout, Raymond cherished those moments. He was Papa or Grampy to his grandchildren, always ready to share his love for the outdoors and create lasting memories.

Raymond's kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. Though he may have departed from this earth, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created. In the embrace of his loved ones and in the comforting whispers of cherished memories, Raymond's presence will endure, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.

Raymond's life was about embracing every adventure and spreading the gospel and kindness wherever he went. As we remember him, let's hold onto the spirit of adventure and generosity that defined his life. Take solace in the knowledge that he now rests in eternal peace with his heavenly father, reunited with loved ones who preceded him. May his memory be a blessing and may his legacy of love and faith continue to inspire.
