    • Obituary:

Clara Montgomery of Newbridge, NB passed away at the Carleton Manor on February 24, 2021. She was 99 Years young.

Born in Riverbank, NB on September 7, 1921 to Edward and Alberta (Brooks) Tompkins. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Clara is survived by her daughters, Mary Marr of Woodstock and Clara Murphy (Peggy) and her sons Tommy Montgomery of Bull Lake and Jimmy Montgomery (Cheryle) of Belmont, Ontario; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Clara was predeceased by her husband Lewis; 2 sons, David and William and her siblings Verna Wallace, John Tompkins, Stanley Tompkins, Eva Glenn and Marion Tompkins.

Clara Montgomery was the rock of the family. She worked hard all of her life, be it at home or at workplaces such as McCains in her early years and mail delivery driver to Newbridge, Bull Lake and Northampton areas for many years. She loved to watch for special astronomical events especially the phases of the moon. She resided at her home in Newbridge until she needed more help with her daily living at the age of 95 and Carleton Manor became her home. She met many good friends during her time at Eden Court. She was famous for her smile with a wave and telling you to “ Have a good day “ when your visit was complete or when the workers had completed their tasks.

The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the staff of Carleton Manor Nursing home for the care given to “our Gram”.

Clara is resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street Woodstock, NB

A Private visitation will be held at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends will be invited to the Grave side Funeral Service at 11 am, Monday May 3, 2021 at the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
