      REELEDER, Lewis
      Posted Mar 24, 2006 12:00 AM
Peacefully at home on Friday, March 17, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Doris Mae (nee Sheepwash) and father of the late Carolyn Reid. He leaves behind his loving children David, Lois, George and Robert and four grandsons - Cory, Justin, Justin John Paul and Brady, all of whom will miss him dearly. Lewis was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in West Glassville, New Brunswick, the sixth child of George Reeleder and Sara DeLong. He is survived by brothers Ronald, Delmar and Lorne and sisters Bernice, Margaret, Wilnora and Betty. He is predeceased by sister Glenna and brothers Aubrey, Adrian and Floyd. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Lew left the family farm in 1943 and received his technical diploma in the then new world of communication and following graduation joined the merchant navy. After four years on the seas he was thrilled to join the commercial aviation world as a radio operator for TCA, later to become Air Canada. He transferred to North Bay with his young family in 1952, and moved to his present home on Tower Drive, shortly thereafter. As a Station Agent in the small North Bay operation he was very familiar to the travelling public till his retirement in 1986.

Active in Widdifield township politics he also served as a public school trustee and in addition did volunteer with the Kinsmen Club, becoming their President in 1962-63. After retirement he did volunteer work with the heritage railway, but his real passion was the outdoors: fishing, tramping in the bush, observing birds and wildlife, and working in his woodlot, cutting all his firewood and in the spring producing prodigious amounts of maple syrup at his sugar shack.

He much enjoyed the company of his close circle of friends. He will be missed by all his friends and wonderful neighbours. At his request there was no service and interment will be done in early summer. A celebration of his life for all his friends will be held this Friday, March 24 from 1500-1800 hours at the Jr. Ranks Mess at CFB Hornell Heights, 17 Duxbridge.
